PORCELAINia
HEMISPHAERICA

Hemisphaerica are bowls some with round bottoms which because of their low center of gravity are stable; therefore, when set into a rocking motion can continue to do so for up to several minutes, given their highly polished bottoms (diamond polished). They are high fired to maturity, polished and unglazed. They are made from slips differing in concentration of the red iron oxide colorant, hence the different hues. The above images are of the top and side views of a hemisphaerica (click for an enlarged view).
