"Delta"
Presented to
Bonnie DeVarco
"Delta," a spherical porcelain buckyball was the fourth piece of
the Buckminster Fuller Presentation Series. It was presented on July 4, 1997
to Bonnie DeVarco, former archivist of the Buckminster Fuller Archive during
its location at the Buckminster Fuller Institute in Los Angeles and Santa
Barbara, California. All the geometric work on this site was inspired by Bonnie,
especially that based on the cuboctahedron and the truncated icosahedron (buckminstrfullerene,
carbon 60). Her dedication to the legacy of Buckminster Fuller and his unique
view of geometry inspired this artist to fashion work in porcelain for the
forseeable future based on the Platonic and Archimedian solids, especially
the truncated icosahedron upon which "Delta" is based.
