The Los Angeles style, with its rectilinear patterns, was named after Los Angeles for the square grid design which is a predominant characteristic of most of the city's blocks. It results when many small porcelain cubes are assembled to form a large cube which is truncated to form the cuboctahedron. The cuboctahedron is then sphericalized and the sphere is sculpted to form the vessel.
