Cleopatra, known to most of us as the beautiful queen and great love of Antony, was one of the greatest doctors of the Ancient world, specializing in gynecology and obstetrics. Living in Rome the 2nd century, Cleopatra's contributions to medicine were well known. Her treatise, "De Geneticis" was the most widely used gynaecological text for more than 400 years. The same work was collected and reprinted during the Renaissance.
