LU TUNG-PIN
[Lu Dongbin]

Lu Tung-pin is the Patron Saint of Barbers. His emblem is the sword and he represents scholars. Born c. 755 AD, died 805 AD, he learned the secrets of Daoism from Zhongli Quan. He is said to have been able to rid the world of evils with his magic sword. He is often worshipped by the sick and honored as a scholar. Lu Tung-pin is depicted dressed as a scholar with a fly-whisker and a sword.
