TS'AO KUO-CHIU
[Cao Guojiu]

Ts'ao Kuo Chiu is the Patron Saint of the Theater. His emblem is the court writing tablet and he represents nobility. Living during the period of 930-999 A.D., he was the son of a military commander and brother of the Empress Cao of the Sung Dynasty. He often carries castanets which symbolize revival and music, and a jade tablet which allowed him free access to palace.
